This Privacy Policy explains what information the gifukai.com website and the Gifukai API (the “Service”) collect, why, and your rights over it. The Service is operated by Gifukai (“we”, “us”, “our”).

We aim to collect as little as possible. There are no ads and no third-party advertising trackers.

1. Information We Collect

Server logs. When you call the API or visit the website, our servers automatically log standard technical data such as your IP address, user agent, the requested endpoint, and a timestamp. We use this only to operate the Service, prevent abuse, and apply rate limiting where needed.

Optional account (GIF library only). Most of the Service requires no account. If you choose to sign in to the GIF library, we use Google or GitHub OAuth to authenticate you and store a session token locally in your browser. We receive only the basic profile information those providers share to identify your account. The public API requires no account or API key.

Local storage. The website stores your theme preference (light/dark) and, if you sign in, your session token in your browser’s local storage. These are not advertising cookies and are not shared with third parties.

2. How We Use Information

• to operate, maintain, and secure the Service;
• to detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, and to apply rate limiting;
• to authenticate you if you choose to sign in to the GIF library.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Third-Party Processors

We rely on infrastructure providers that process requests on our behalf, including:

• Vercel — website hosting;
• Cloudflare R2 — GIF storage and CDN delivery;
• Google and GitHub — optional OAuth sign-in for the GIF library.

These providers process data as part of delivering the Service and have their own privacy policies.

4. Data Retention

Server logs are retained only for as long as needed to operate and secure the Service, then deleted or anonymized. Local-storage values remain in your browser until you clear them or sign out.

5. Your Rights

If you are in the EU/EEA, the GDPR gives you rights over your personal data, including access, correction, deletion, and objection to processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@gifukai.com.

6. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
